The Urban Memory Project was founded as a partnership between an educator and a playwright, both committed to exploring change in cities and its effects on residents.
The project enriches its programming through partnerships with organizations such as Pick Up Performance Co(s), Gotham Center for New York City History, the Henry Street Settlement Abrons Arts Center and the New York Public Library.
Student work has been presented at the Brooklyn Historical Society, the Municipal Arts Society, the Old Stone House, Long Island College University, New Visions for Public Schools, New York Methodist Hospital, the City Reliquary Museum and the Museum for Contemporary African Diaspora Arts, in addition to school exhibitions. Original theatrical work inspired by the Urban Memory Project has been presented by Ain Gordon and Pick Up Performance Co(s).
Urban Memory Project exhibitions are available for public display. See our blog for examples of past exhibits. Contact us for more information.
